SPECIFIC WORK HOURS: blocks of not less than 2 hours, 8am-5pm, Monday - Friday
WORK STUDY Preferred
Duties:
Assist with arrangement and description ("processing") of manuscripts collections: perform initial sorting, determine appropriate arrangement of records within folders and folders within collections, describe collection contents, check collections against descriptive listings for accuracy, create accurate collection listings. Also involves some lifting.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills, neat handwriting and printing, care in handling paper and other materials, proficiency in word processing, special emphasis on accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to concentrate, self motivated, the ability to carefully follow written and oral instructions and to communicate clearly and concisely in person and in writing. A background in 20th Century United States History a plus. Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs.

The interview, as well as all work by the student, will be conducted in Room 415 of the Marchant building at 6701 San Pablo in Berkeley

Monday-Friday (no evenings or weekends)
WORK STUDY ONLY
Duties:
Key high volume of payments for books and journals into an online system (Millennium--to be trained on database system). Key invoice numbers, dates, amounts, and order numbers. Stamp and highlight invoices for payment before keying. Proofread payment information after keying. File invoices. Sort mail <--of incoming invoices only, not books). Search records in Millennium database by order number or title. Assist in unit projects and work on other tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Must be able to perform very detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy.
Accurate keyboard typing is essential with some prior experience performing detailed and repetitive data entry requiring a high degree of accuracy.
Must be accurate at seeing and typing numbers without transposing them. Must be able to accurately file documents by alphabetical name and by date & invoice number accurately and consistently.
Must be able to proofread invoice numbers, dates, alpha-text, and amounts to confirm they are correct. Must be able to spot incorrect numbers, dates, alpha-text, and amounts on computer screen & paper. Must be comfortable at word processing and working on a PC in a Windows environment.
Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and ask questions when in doubt about a procedure or when anything is in conflict with guidelines.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access is desirable, but not required.
References desired from previous employers or faculty or school professional contacts.

Must be detail oriented; organized; able to prioritize work independently, have a sight recognition or title page familiarity of Western European languages: Ability to move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Search OCLC Database as First Search to find exact match copy for books in ARabic. Us Millennium to verify call numbers in OCLC do not duplicate call numbers already in UCB collection. Move books from shelves to book trucks and from book trucks to shelves. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Type 50+ WPM knowledge of Arabic is required. Attention to detail

Duties:
The Serials Checkin Unit is a large unit that receives, opens, sorts, and checks in over 20,000 active serial titles that come to us from all over the world. This position is dedicated to opening serials that are received in the mail, in addition to opening and pre-checkin processing of U.S. Depository mail. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Aptitude for accuracy and detailed work are essential to this position. The ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions are a necessity. Must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision and performing work following established procedures. Must be reliable and able to maintain a work schedule of a minimum of 10 hours per week.
Special Notes:
You will be required to lift boxes up to 35 lbs and push heavy book trucks. You will be exposed to dust and dirty mail.
