Library Gift and Exchange Program

General Information

The Gift and Exchange Division, located in 132 Doe Library, is a unit of the Library Technical Services Department. The Division manages both the Exchange Program, which maintains over 3,200 active exchange agreements with institutions in virtually every country in the world to obtain approximately 12,000 serial titles and 4,500 monographs per year, and the Library's Gift Program which evaluates, receives, acknowledges, and reviews donations of publications and withdrawn materials for possible addition to the Library collections, discard, or sale in the Library Book Sale. Approximately 2,000 gift volumes, including 200 added as replacements of items missing from collections, are placed in Library holdings each year, resulting in an annual savings exceeding $60,000. The Library's Slavic and Eastern European Ordering Program is also located in this Division.
