The Collections Core Services Division acquires and pays for books, serials and electronic materials purchased for The Library’s collections. The Division does ordering for both in-print and out-of-print materials in all formats and languages, with the exception of East Asian and Slavic vernacular ordering. The Division also receives and checks in serials and newspapers. The Division resolves access problems for electronic resources that are purchased by Berkeley itself rather than purchased consortially for all or part of the UC system’s campuses. It also maintains Berkeley’s instance of the system-wide OpenURL link resolver.
The Collections Core Services Division currently consists of five Units: The Ordering Unit, The Payments Unit, The Electronics Unit, The Check-In Unit, and The News/Micro Processing Unit. In addition to staff in these Units, the Division has a Records Manager and a Budget Assistant. Both of these positions carry out project-based assignments that support the Division's core priorities. Management of The Library’s INNOPAC system was formerly carried out in the CCS Division, but responsibility for the Library's new Millenium Integrated Library System has now been moved to the Library Systems Office. Please consult the Technical Services Organization Chart and Staff Directory for more detailed information on Collections Core Services Division staffing.
