In the New Directions planning process (September 2007-May 2008), the Library identified six major strategic goals, and has since begun to launch a number of initiatives to realize these goals. The renovation and revitalization of Moffitt represents the major initiative toward the realization of strategic goal #2: "to modify existing library spaces to more effectively serve the changing needs of students and faculty."

The revitalization of Moffitt is one of two major fundraising priorities in the University Library's capital campaign.

A detailed project timeline (updated November 2009) highlights accomplishments and anticipated target dates.
