The University of California was chartered in 1868 as the states only land-grant institution. What began as a single campus first in Oakland, then moving to Berkeley, emerged in the 20th Century as the nations first multi-campus university. Here you will gain access to historical documents, oral histories and interviews, and online exhibits.
To date, the largest full-text collections available at the UC History Digital Archives include:
In Memoriam (biographies of UC faculty and administrators, systemwide)
Academic Senate Record / Notice of Meeting, Northern Section (1954-1963)
Academic Senate Assembly Record / Notice of Meeting (1963-1987, preliminary)
Selections from the Daily Californian (UC Berkeley student newspaper), 1940, 1949-50 (related to the loyalty oath controversy)
