Written by 2 scribes: i, ff. 1, 8r-v, 21-195v in a secretary script with occasional anglicana forms, and with large flourishes (similar to notary marks) at the end of rubrics on ff. 104v, 132; ii, ff. 1v-7v, 9-20v in an anglicana script. Rubrics in a bastard anglicana script. Opening leaf for the abridgment of statutes (art. 1) and for each king’s statutes excised, except for that of Richard II (f. 71), where the opening initial has been cut away and the hole repaired with blank parchment. 4- and 3-line gold initials on white-patterned blue/maroon grounds; the initial on f. 127 with a spray of blue and maroon leaves; paragraph marks alternating gold with ink flourishing and blue with red. Running headlines across the opening, omitted on ff. 9v-20v; chapter numbers in the outer margins; marginal notes in the hands of the scribes. Bound, s. XIXin, in English diced russia, rebacked with corners reinforced; marbled endpapers; on red leather label on the spine “Statuta” stamped in gold. Written in England during the second quarter of the fifteenth century, after 1436-37, the date of the latest statute in the volume (art. 100). On f. 1, “G.P. 6 febr. 1625. 97.” Date and source of acquisition by Henry E. Huntington unknown.
